EDC Configuration
Inspect snapshotted study fields and configure reusable EDC validation rules for an active research study

Open this route from the study sidebar (EDC Configuration).
Purpose
This page is where Clinical Study Manager configures post-capture EDC validation for an active research study. It lists snapshotted study fields from the visit workflow and a library of reusable EDC validation rules you can create, edit, link to fields, and re-run against captured data.
What you can do
- See how many study fields are on the study (count badge in the header)
- Search study fields by key or label
- Browse study fields (name, key, type, L1 validation summary, linked EDC rule count)
- Create a new EDC validation rule
- Edit or delete rules from the Validation rules library
- Open Manage rules on a field to link or unlink rules
- Re-run validation for one field across captured EDC responses (confirm dialog)
- On draft, paused, or closed studies, read why configuration is unavailable until the study is active
Permissions
Page access — Requires a signed-in user with access to Clinical Study Manager and a research study on the active license. Opening EDC Configuration is not gated by a catalog permission; creating, editing, deleting, linking rules, and re-running validation are.

Header
Title EDC Configuration with a short description. When the study is active: a fields count badge, search by field key or label, and Create validation rule (disabled without Configure EDC Validation Rules).
Study fields
Table (or mobile list) of snapshotted capture fields from the active study workflow. Columns: Field Name (optional fields labeled), Key, Type, L1 validation, EDC rules (linked count), and a row actions menu (Manage rules, Re-run validation). Empty states cover zero fields and no search matches.
Validation rules
Reusable EDC validation rules for the study (sidebar on wide layouts; below the fields table on smaller screens). Each card shows name, metadata, description, condition preview, and last updated time, plus edit and delete when permitted.
Inactive study
When the study is not active, the header still shows EDC Configuration, and the content explains that configuration is available after activation, with the current status.
